Field crew members are the foundation of the surveying profession. At Buchanan & Harper, our field crews play a critical role in collecting accurate data that supports land surveying and civil engineering projects across the region.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in hands-on work, and want to build a career in the surveying industry. Prior surveying experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply and will be trained

Field crew responsibilities may include:

• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  
  
• Carrying equipment and materials over uneven terrain
  
  
• Cutting and clearing brush or tree limbs to establish line of sight
  
  
• Locating survey monuments using hand tools such as shovels and picks
  
  
• Holding and plumbing survey rods to obtain elevations and distances
  
  
• Driving stakes to establish grades and layout for construction projects
  
  
• Assisting with field measurements and data collection
  
  
• Following safe work practices when operating tools and equipment
  
  
• Communicating clearly with surveyors and drafters
  
  
• Performing other related duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Local candidates are strongly preferred.

• Prior surveying or construction experience is preferred
